My Blog First Festival

Shravana Masam (Shravan month) is very auspicious Hindu month. Each and everyday during the Shravana Mas has some significance. Especially, Shravan Somvar (Mondays in Shravan month) are most auspicious which are solely dedicated to Lord Shiva. On Shravan Shukravar (Fridays in Shravana masa), women worship Goddess Mahalakshmi. Shravan month is the first month of auspicious Chaturmasa Puja.
The name Varalakshmi can be interpreted in two ways. In one sense, Varalakshmi is one who grants boons. In another, she is the Goddess who is invited into the home and honored. The different types of benefits that will accrue thanks to performing the Varalakshmi puja are Dhan (Money), Dhanyam (Gains or Food), Arogyam (Health), Sampath (Property), Sathsanthanam (Virtuous offspring) and Dheerga saumangalyam (Longevity of the husband).

Today I Cleaned my all pooja accessories for doing pooja

I made naivedyam, (that means an offering to the Godess ) Poha Pongal(atukula payasam).
POHA PONGAL
Ingredieants:
Poha 1 cup
Milk 1 1/2 cup
Jaggery 1/2 cup(or)sugar
Ghee 1 or 2 tbsp
Cashews And Golden Raisens
Method:

  • Take a Vessal and Boil the milk . MeanWhile soak the poha with 1/4 cup of water for 3 to 4 min
  • After Milk is boiled add powdered jkaggery and ghee, Stir and cook till jaggery melts.
  • Next add the soaked poha and stir well to mix properly.
  • Cashews and Golden raisins:
In the same skillet, add and heat two tea spoons of ghee. Add and fry the cashews and golden raisins till they turn to light gold. Remove and keep them aside.
  • Stir ghee, cashews, golden raisins .

NOTE: Jaggery is the traditional sweetener of any pongal and my choice too, simply because it tastes better than when made with sugar.
First offer to Gods as naivedyam (if you have this tradition), then serve it to your loved ones, near and dear. Don’t forget to drizzle some ghee just before serving
